What Customers Say About The Very Best of Deep Purple:

listening to this will make you want to buy more purple. Fireball 8. Black Night 4. Smoke on the Water 11. Hush 2. Kentucky Woman 3. Very good best of. Highway Star 10.

Burn 14. Demon's Eye 9. Stormbringer 15. Child in Time 6. but that's what greatest hits and best of's are supposed to do right.1. Space Truckin' 12.

Speed King 5. Strange Kind of Woman 7. Woman from Tokyo 13. Knocking at Your Back Door

There's also great deep cuts like "Demon's Eye", "Strange Kind of Woman" and "Fireball".The Mark 2 lineup with Ian Gillan on vocals takes the majority, as should be, but the Coverdale era gets decent coverage as well with the speedster track of "Burn" and the awesome, "Stormbringer".There 1984 reunion album gets only one track, that being the great "Knocking at Your Bcak Door". Luckily, alot of fan favorites made the cut as well.

Several of the band's essentials are covered here and the price seems right. As far as single disc Greatest Hits go, this one is not so bad.

Other radio hits include there 1968 hit, "Hush" and "Woman From Tokyo". As an introduction to the band, this is just fine.

Just don't make it seem like this is an excuse not to purchase the band's albums. Many of the tracks featured range from most of the band's "big tracks" from there Machine Head record including "Smoke on the Water", "Highway Star" and "Space Truckin". We get the two most essential tracks from the amazing "In Rock" album, those being "Child in Time'(possibly there best song) and "Speed King".

Unfortunately the title cut from that album, "Perfect Strangers" is not available as well on here. All the tracks are essentials in the band's catalouge, the only track that feels out of place being the dated "Kentucky Woman", which has virtually no place on this compilation.Still, if your a novice and/or trying to learn your Metal 101 and need to discover the roots of the genre, this is far from a bad start.

This album is very similar to "When We Rock, We Roll & When we Roll, We Roll" get a remasterd copy of this instead.Better song collection. Please don't buy this album. I really do feel strongly about buying "In Rock", "Fireball" and "Machine Head. Go out and get the CDs that the songs are featured from. Deep Purple Compilation albums are pretty awful, mostly encompasing the same tunes , more or less. if you happen to like I an Gillan's Voice. As A Second thought try Made in Japan.a brilliant Live Album covering their songs up to Machine Head, that is classic Purple

When I was a kid my sisters got Deep Purples album for Christmas. It has to be one of my core rock favorites. The organ will melt your head. Definitely worth every minute of your listening pleasure.

This CD is for anyone who longs for the sound of 1960's psychedelic rock and roll. Music such as this by Deep Purple is no longer produced. The rendition of "Kentucky Woman" is worth the price of the entire disc. In my opinion, Deep Purple does a better cover of this song than even Neil Diamond, the original artist.
